to clarify, the possibility we’ll never find out what happened to cody is only my second biggest fear for future star wars content. my biggest fear is that we’ll find out what happened to cody

mossflowermouse

#it’s…..not going to be a good ending is it#there’s a reason rex is an idealistic fighter in the bad batch and isolating himself and his last living brothers in rebels#……..losing cody or being hunted by him could do that

@ronon-dex you. you get it. this is the exact scenario I’m most afraid of and it’s looking horribly plausible. literally any other Painful Cody Fate would be less soul-crushing to watch and yet here we are, in 2021, looking at Captain “I don’t want to bury any more of our brothers” Rex with increasing dread,

Pinned Post and there's also wolffe in rebels with the way he's so desperate to keep his few remaining brothers safe...it's not looking good :( star wars sw theories commander cody captain rex iz.txt even obi-wan having to kill him would not be the same level of devastating as this

This lack of notes is probably a big part of why TikTok seems to think they invented the meme.

They think WHAT?!

I was reading a book containing a collection of secular Polish poems from before 1500 for my thesis and most of them were all pretty serious - either love poems, odes or satires - but at the very end I found my favorite one:

image

“This is my rhyme:
Warm bread with butter in it.”

jagiellonka

From a book containing a collection of Old Polish texts (as found in a 1460 Latin codex):

image

“Kind God, give [me] calmth, [give me] peace
And a loaf of bread with Czech cheese.”

I’m usually pretty flexible about player character backgrounds, but I draw the line at “is secretly Rasputin”. If your character is or has ever been Rasputin, they are not welcome at this table.

prokopetz

@bluebandedagate replied:

is this from experience

I have had a player try to sneak a secret Rasputin into one of my games on three unconnected occasions.

snommelp

The same player, or three different players with three different Secret Rasputins?

prokopetz

Three different ones, though this was admittedly over the course of thirty years, so it’s not like it was frequent – it’s just weird that it happened thrice.

i haven't watched snw but the more i learn about it, the more i think the writers just didn't watch tos, or at least not recently

just learned that T'Pring and Spock had sex????????? WHAT

or also, Spapel, as if Spock didn't reject her in tos, as if she isn't engaged to someone else?????

kali-tmblr

As someone who grew up watching TOS before even TAS came out, you're missing a treat.

Watch SNW to find out HOW Chapel got engaged to someone else, WHY Spock rejected her later, and just WHAT happened that got T'Pring so over Spock by Amok Time.

Also to see the Prime Directive getting it's name, Spock bonding with Pike, Uhura bonding with first Spock and then Kirk, and Kirk getting set up for the disaster dump by Carol Marcus that sends him spiraling into promiscuity.

Also why M'Benga turned the CMO job over to McCoy, and the reason for Bones' exasperated "I'm a doctor, not a (all the other things M'Benga did)."

And to watch Scotty going through his own "baby genius" phase.

Not to mention see some of the best writing Star Trek has ever had at the same time.

marithlizard

Hmm, @fairy-anon-godmother it sounds like this might be up your alley, assuming it’s skillfully integrated with the original?  I can see how it might be extremely satisfying to watch the origin of McCoy’s permanent exasperated state.

snw is fantastic granted I've only seen the odd couple of episodes of tos so can't say how the characters who show up in both compare but the friend I'm watching with is more familiar with both and will defend snw to the death and oh goodness I hadn't made that link before that the need to go 'I'm a doctor not an XYZ' is because the previous doctor *was* (hello yes m'benga is such a good character) ALSO without getting into spoiler territory the tonal whiplash from episode to episode is quite something Full Hijinks one episode Full Trauma the next wacky shenanigans! horrors of war! musical episode! Plot TM! star trek snw

locusimperium:

A few years ago, when I was living in the housing co-op and looking for a quick cookie recipe, I came across a blog post for something called “Norwegian Christmas butter squares.” I’d never found anything like it before: it created rich, buttery and chewy cookies, like a vastly superior version of the holiday sugar cookies I’d eaten growing up. About a year ago I went looking for the recipe again, and failed to find it. The blog had been taken down, and it sent me into momentary panic.

Luckily, I remembered enough to find it on the Wayback Machine, and quickly copied it into a file that I’ve saved ever since. I probably make these cookies about once a month, and they last about five days around my voracious husband - they’re fantastic with a cup of bitter coffee or tea. I’m skeptical that there is something distinctively Norwegian about these cookies, but they do seem like the perfect thing to eat on a cold day.

Norwegian Christmas Butter Squares

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 egg
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp salt
Turbinado/ Raw Sugar for dusting

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Chill a 9x13″ baking pan in the freezer. Do not grease the pan.

Using a mixer, blend the butter, egg, sugar, and salt together until it is creamy.  Add the flour and vanilla and mix using your hands until the mixture holds together in large clumps. If it seems overly soft, add a little extra flour.

Using your hands, press the dough out onto the chilled and ungreased baking sheet until it is even and ¼ inch thick.  Dust the top of the cookies evenly with raw sugar.

Bake at 400 degrees until the edges turn a golden brown, about 12-15 minutes. Remove from the oven. Let cool for about five minutes before cutting the cooked dough into squares. Remove the squares from the warm pan using a spatula.

brawltogethernow

So I tried this recipe.

And it is GREAT.

It basically makes the platonic ideal of commercial sugar cookies, only in bar form. When I give them to people (which I do a lot, because this is one of those simple recipes where the results seem very impressive), I just tell them they’re sugar cookie bars.

I made these today for the equinox with sea salt caramel chips and they are simply amazing. Let’s see how long they last with six people in the house!

dduane

Noting for later (as we need more butter for this, and probably won’t do a grocery shopping till the weekend).

amyamychan

The OP version of this has become my go-to cookie for basically all things and I have a whole cohort of friends and colleagues who would murder each other to get them. Haven’t tried any add ons yet, since the base recipe is SO GOOD.

g1sunstreaker

I’ve reblogged this before and I’m reblogging it again because I’m about to make it again tomorrow and I wanted to add my own tale of just how amazingly delicious it. it was SO incredibly simple to bake and with an extra dusting of brown sugar on top and served warm and soft they gift you with the taste of the nectar of the gods when paired with a small glass of milk. this image is from when I first made them a couple years ago:

GO. MAKE THESE !!!!

mikkeneko

Needed to make a dessert in a hurry to bring to Thanksgiving, and this recipe worked excellently. I did not have the right kind of sugar for the topping, so instead I used a packet of lemonade powder, which gave it a nice citrusy zing.

Making these for myself as a reward for doing the no fun thing I’ve been putting off. Added half a lemon of lemon juice and a bit more flour. Let’s see how it turns out. >:3

Verdict: tasty.

These are really, really good, btw. (sorry, no pics…) :/
